How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord Almighty.
I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
Psalm 84: 1-2

This is the sketch of the image that came to mind when I started imagining what it would be like to play with God for a bit.

Freedom from all things that are obligatory.
Being lost in a field of flowers, surrounded only by nature.

To be able to let go.
Unafraid of how people perceive my actions, my words,
         my song.

To give to the Lord fully, offering my entire being.
How often am I able to give Him my full, undivided attention?
         Not often enough, my friend.

Appreciating not only all that He has given me, but also
Loving Him just because He is.

May my arms be outstretched in praise more often than not.

Linking up this week with these lovely ladies:

  1. Hi Jen! Beautifully written, as usual!! I hope to link up on MOnday again! Things have been crazy, but I wanted to let you know that your link up is by far my favorite link up I've ever seen! There is a true "sisterhood" to it!! :)

  2. I second what BFM said....I love yours too. I hope I have something to say, that's where I get stuck.

    Great writeup tonight. Picture too.

  3. These are some of my favorite verses.

  4. Love the idea of playing with God but never thought before how freeing that would feel. Thank you for this insight

  5. I have really been wanting to purchase an art journal and some basic art supplies . . . even more so after I see your pictures each week.

  6. Love the colors in your beautiful art! Can't wait till we get to run through the fields of flowers with Him for realsies!!!!

  7. Giving Him my full undivided attention? No, that doesn't happen often, but I sure would like it too!

  8. ..."with my whole being, body and soul..." When I read those lines, I realize I don't think I've ever given myself to God that fully. Not sure I know how to do that exactly...but you have given me a lot to consider. And I always LOVE your artistic expressions of His glad you linked up wit Laura for her Playdates with God series, too -- I thought of that immediately when I saw your drawing and read your words.

And I see you have raised all needed funds for She Speaks -- such wonderful news, Jen -- I feel so much joy for you and your potential!

  9. I love this drawing. I often dream of dancing freely in worship in a meadow full of flowers, so it was interesting to see this.

  10. Could you be anymore talented?

    Lovely, dear.

    Natalie at Mommy on Fire

  11. What a beautiful passage, one of my favorite Psalms!

  12. To dance, skip, paint, run, laugh, twirl, sing and sing and sing...for only His delight...

    To be lost in Hallelujahs!

    Oh, that we would!

    Teri @ StumblingAroundInTheLight

  13. "Loving Him just because He is." this! Would that my praise would always rise from that fountain...

I surely love stopping by and seeing what else you've drawn...and you raised all you needed for the conference!

  14. Beautiful!!! :)

I know you use charcoal pencils (which I really like now that I've tried them!), but how do you get the color in your drawings? I've seen some tinted charcoal pencils, but they don't have the same effect as what you achieve. Do you use other color pencils?

    Thanks for inspiring me!

  15. How amazing is the beauty of your drawing and playdate with the Lord. We are so set free as we rest in Him. The beauty you describe is what I want to acheive too. Thank you for shairing
    Visiting from Playdate with God.

  16. Jen! I love your drawing of this dreamy playdate. As I read your words I felt myself longing for the same...letting go and letting Him fill me with the joy of all that He is. Just gorgeous, sweet friend. You are such a talented lady.

A sweet holy week to you.

  17. What a beautiful picture, and a beautiful encouragement! I think God longs for us to give Him our whole being. He longs to work through us just as He made us.

  18. beautiful post, that verse is so wonderful isn't it? TFS!

  19. and someday... things will be just like that. every day. won't that be wonderful?

  20. That's where I want to be. Arms outstretched in praise, giving Him all of my attention. It's my favorite place to be when I am there so why don't I go more often?

  21. I love that...playing with God! Such a beautiful art interpretation of that!

  22. That is so beautiful. I think that I appreciate most the freedom to be and worship Him, not concerned with others. God bless!

  23. This is beautiful Jen! I love the outstretched arms. I SEE the joy! :)

  24. I love the idea of "playdates with God"...I do often see myself as a little girl - holding His hand, on His lap, under His arm...

    This is a beautiful post..

    Blessed Holy Weekend...

  25. This is so beautiful, Jen!
    Have a wonderful Easter!
