Lovely

How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord Almighty.
I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
Psalm 84: 1-2

This is the sketch of the image that came to mind when I started imagining what it would be like to play with God for a bit.

Freedom from all things that are obligatory.
Being lost in a field of flowers, surrounded only by nature.

To be able to let go.
Unafraid of how people perceive my actions, my words,
         my song.

To give to the Lord fully, offering my entire being.
How often am I able to give Him my full, undivided attention?
         Not often enough, my friend.

Appreciating not only all that He has given me, but also
Loving Him just because He is.

May my arms be outstretched in praise more often than not.

Linking up this week with these lovely ladies:

  8. ..."with my whole being, body and soul..." When I read those lines, I realize I don't think I've ever given myself to God that fully. Not sure I know how to do that exactly...but you have given me a lot to consider. And I always LOVE your artistic expressions of His word...so glad you linked up wit Laura for her Playdates with God series, too -- I thought of that immediately when I saw your drawing and read your words.

And I see you have raised all needed funds for She Speaks -- such wonderful news, Jen -- I feel so much joy for you and your potential!

  9. I love this drawing. I often dream of dancing freely in worship in a meadow full of flowers, so it was interesting to see this.

  12. To dance, skip, paint, run, laugh, twirl, sing and sing and sing...for only His delight...

    To be lost in Hallelujahs!

    Oh, that we would!

  13. "Loving Him just because He is."...love this! Would that my praise would always rise from that fountain...

I surely love stopping by and seeing what else you've drawn...and you raised all you needed for the conference!

  14. Beautiful!!! :)

I know you use charcoal pencils (which I really like now that I've tried them!), but how do you get the color in your drawings? I've seen some tinted charcoal pencils, but they don't have the same effect as what you achieve. Do you use other color pencils?

    Thanks for inspiring me!
