you want to enter THIS contest & the Soli Deo Gloria Party

It's time to pull up your chair.  Do you know you have one here in this space we call Soli Deo Gloria?  You do.  It's reserved every week only for you.  This place would be different if you weren't here and we miss you when you are gone.  This is a place filled with women who seek to honor your words, you heart, your tears, and your laughter.  Scooch in close.  You won't want to miss a word.

photo source -- well, pay comes in the form of the free t-shirt...
I was thinking about making t-shirts for our little Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood as a fundraiser for our retreat.  What better way to know you are covered by your sisters than by well, being covered by your sisters (or at least a t-shirt that says sisterhood).  I pulled up a design your own t-shirt site and um, sat there.  No inspiration.  Nada.  Suddenly it was time for family movie time in which my husband had ordered Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure from Netflix (while watching I think I actually LOST brain cells, and thus, at this point had absolutely no hope for further inspiration.)  But then I thought, why not have the sisterhood come up with a cool tag line for our group here?  Just a thought -- the tagline should address the sisterhood and not the retreat, as not everyone is able to come to the retreat, but every woman IS able to be a part of our group.

And so, an idea was born -- you are in charge!  Come up with a tagline and leave it in the comments.  I'll select the 3 that I like best and we shall vote on the one we all like next week.  The winner of tagline contest will receive a FREE t-shirt!
Another idea I had (obviously borne before PeeWee's Big Adventure) was that I would take what I'm teaching in my class at my church and share it here in the form of a vlog.  If you'd like to join in with our class content virtually, just hit the play button (and I promise I will get better at this vlogging thing!):

If you can't view the video from here, you can view it on YouTube by clicking here (email subscribers, you can either come to my blog or just click the YouTube link).

SDG Community Builder:  1)  Join in the tagline fun contest!  2)  Pray as you look over the faces of those women who have joined today.  Which face pulls on your heart?  Take that as the Lord's prompting and go visit, leaving some encouraging words before you leave.

Looking for how to donate to the SDG Retreat?? Want to help a sister who wants to come but needs a little financial help?  Click here and scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Only $218 until the deposit is paid off!!

  1. I'll be thinking of a tag line and come back later!! Great idea.

  2. Love the tee idea! I'm going to ponder that one for a bit - I'm not sure I've ever recovered the brain cells I lost watching Pee Wee Herman more than once, so it make take awhile! :P

  3. What fun, getting to hear your voice! Here's my tagline: Virtual friends: Real sisters. SDG

  4. Jen...I loved, loved your vlog. It was just the word I needed tonight. Thank you for your faithfulness and friendship :) I, too, often focus on what I'm doing wrong vs. what I'm doing right. And I am ready for a radical adventure in this thing called ministry and trusting that He has provided us the power to do it well. Time to engage fully, yes! :)

  5. I loved the cultivate theme and it's's definitely a perspective change to see everything as an adventure where there's no fear only the knowledge of His Great Love with us in everything:} And turning up...yes, I want to see my heart cultivated by turning up all that's held back and not transformed {yet} that is THE ADVENTURE of our lives...

ok, so tagline :: SDG :: sisters come home...wherever they are

    love you!!!

  6. Your vlogs are favorites. I so enjoy when you do them!

SDG :: Sisters of the heart and in grace.

Not feeling very creative tonight but there you go. ;)

  9. How about: SDG ~ sisters united by & for the glory of God ~

    Great idea!! <3

  10. I am so anti-creative these days and can barely form a coherent sentence. So sorry, no tag lines, but love the idea and will gladly purchase a shirt! :)

  11. Your passion for the Lord is contagious! Love your vlog! (I tried my first one this week also.) Blessings!

  12. Thank you for hosting this lovely blog hop. I am not creative today but tomorrow is another day.

  13. Tagline? "Sharing. Daring. Growing."
    (it's an acronym thing...)
Actually, I like some of the other ideas better but I thought I'd throw it out there. The contest is another great idea!
Love your vlog, too, Jen. Sometimes we forget to thank the Lord for how much He has grown us, because we focus on the work yet to be done.
    Blessing, friend!

  14. Hello Jen, This is my first time participating in a link up. I successfully went through the linky, but I need to know how to post your button on my blog with your page linked into it, so that readers can click on the image and get to your blog. I know how to post these things on my sidebar, but not within a post. As a last resort, I copied your image and put your link below it, but I'd like to learn to do it correctly, if you have time? Sorry to bother you with this! Thank you.

  15. Jen, I love this idea! I am not the most creative when it comes to this kind of thing but I like Sisters of Grace.

  16. Great idea, Jen! I'll have to think on it for a little while....

  17. Im drawing a blank but this is what I came up with: Sharing God's glory through words (or our stories, or our lives)=)

  18. You did a great job on your Vlog. I think they are harder than actually writing the deepest parts of our heart--a visual thing. And thank you for your words. They are what I needed to hear today, more of a confirmation from the Lord.

    I'm all about some T-shirts.;-)

    Living out Jesus on Earth.
    Our Story. His Glory.

Hmmm... I'll have to keep thinking.

  19. tagline idea:
in small letters Sharing life with my Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood

  20. Hi Jen, My prayers are with you for the retreat.
    Love in Him,

  21. Soli Deo Gloria: Where the Circle of Friendship Never Ends

(Is the retreat in October for a group of women from your church? Or is it for bloggers from all over?)

  22. Soli Deo Gloria
    Sisters in Christ

    too simple?
I'll contribute to your retreat, I think you're a good investment, and I know the returns will be better than gold! Patsy from

  23. Soli Deo Gloria: The Sisterhood

    Yeah, baby!

  24. Soli Deo Gloria:
The Glory of His Story in Our Story

Fun idea! Can't wait to see how the shirts turn out!

  25. OMGreatGoodnessGracious !!! you made me laugh out loud over here on my side of the screen as I read about your family movie night with Pee Wee Herman ... I shuddered with those silly & nonsensical tingles down my own spine and my own brain cells felt for yours too!!!! Oh, just too funny!!! and the silly & happy things we will do for our kiddos ~* LOL *~ ... Must I let the BIG truth out of the bag????? okay, I will.... I LOVED THE PEE WEE HERMAN movies when I was a kid too!!!! both me and my brother did!!!!
    Ya'll are a great family :o)

I've been out of touch for a good little bit, so I have to get myself acquainted with the news of the Soli Deo Gloria Retreat. Sounds like it will be such a wonderful thing!!! And, even if I can't make it I will be so happy to be praying for this awesome event -that many lives will be touched, and heart’s needs can be met, for the planning and organizing, and for God's Glory to be had, and that His Glory shall be present in such special ways for each individual lady!!!

loved the description in your Vlog about the soil/dirt being churned over as sin roots may be exposed, and though it is painful, ....I loved the word picture of how that's a way for the fresh, new and much needed oxygen is able to come rushing in and to bring the revitalization we need so badly.

I can't express it well enough, (but I can feel it) -the JOY God gives to me because I am forgiven, and He clears my record of guilt ...this “clearing of” is so that I CAN keep reaching forward in the goodness of His will for me. Sadly, I too often ONLY just remember that I am forgiven, and I want to keep the guilty feeling so safely tucked-in close by my side (because I know I deserve it) ... But as I studied Psalm 32 yesterday and again restudied it today it’s beginning to hit home: -I'm called to obey him in these gifts of truths He has for me by accepting Him in THIS area of His grace too! ---and it makes me smile so much bigger because every day I realize how He loves me more than I knew yesterday, and the day before. HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!!!

Thank you for visiting me at my blog, and please know that it brought joy to my heart to know how the Lord Jesus blessed your with Psalm 32 too!!!!

    Praising the Lord with you!
    Love ya, Deanna

  26. Ok, I've waited to comment until I had something really good for a tag line, but maybe it was me who watched the Pee Wee movie because I've got nothing. Instead, I am going to vote for Teri Miller's suggestion. It rocks.

ps: Yes, your Jetta comment made me laugh. This just means I will have to pick you up from She Speaks this year in the new Civic.

Don't go yet! Leave me a note with your thoughts.
