Five Minute Friday: Dive

Go.

I don't think I've even taken a dive off the high dive.  The low dive, maybe.  But life keeps going at this break-my-neck speed and all that lies behind me stays blurry a lot.

I let fear stop me often in my younger years.  Sure, I dove into those things that I knew I could do, and I'm grateful that I had confidence to do some things.

But those things that caused me to look down...
But those things that caused me to have to depend on something outside of myself, like a pool of crisp water on a hot summer day...
But those things that caused me to stare at something for long periods of time with trepidation...

No.

But something happened.  God changed how I viewed the bouncing board and the water below and even the millions of steps upwards that lead to the plank.

It's because He changed how I viewed life.
It's because I learned that the jump, and the fear, and the climb, and the dive...
it's not all about me.

It's all about Him and all those people out there in this world that He loves.

Will you take the plunge?

STOP.

I'm hanging out with Lisa-Jo this morning.  Want in?  Here's the deal:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

A note from Jen:
Wanna take a dive into sisterhood?  Walk with us each week?  Or maybe even each day?  Find out more info on the Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood by clicking here.

  1. Yes, Jen, and when we take that all important high jump, we find that He is there all the time, jumping up and down with joy about His daughter trusting Him enough to dive. Glad to link -up with all the girls!

  3. You have some amazing pics of diving! I have let fear be a driving (or stopping) for in my life for many years. But I am so glad I learning to let go and not let it stop me from living. Have you read Love Does? It totally helped me in this area. Have a great weekend.

    1. The pictures were added after the 5 minutes. Can I just blame how long it takes iPhoto to open with all my pics??

  7. I often think kids can "jump" without fear because they don't know any better. And those kids become adults, innocence lost, and there is so much to fear in the "jumping"! But then there is God - and He tells us not to fear, to just dive in. Thanks for the reminder!

    1. Christy, I think you are right -- we adults consider way too many scenarios instead of just trusting that God has got us!
