Soli Deo Gloria is a community of women who come together to encourage one another with words of affirmation and the love of Jesus. We seek to let each other in our lives, being real and vulnerable, so that we may be uplifted, refined, and grown in the body of Christ. As we receive, so we give, creating bonds of friendship and sisterhood.

All About the Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood
And that is why the name of this meme is the Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood. Soli Deo Gloria is Latin for God's Glory Alone. Really, at the heart, this isn't about the quality of our words, but about the living out of those words and finding hope and faith in Jesus.
All this to say, I'm so glad you're here. I'm so glad you are reading these words now. Please know that if you have found this, you have thus received an invitation to be a part of this fellowship. We want to know your heart -- the good, the bad, the ugly. In this place, there is no judgment. There is encouragement, empathy, and love. I hope to see your sweet face appear one week.

All About the Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood
First, welcome! I am so excited to see what God does here on the pages of our computers, out in the wide expanses of the Internet, gathering sisters in Christ together to encourage and love one another, all the while bringing glory to the Savior.
And that is why the name of this meme is the Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood. Soli Deo Gloria is Latin for God's Glory Alone. Really, at the heart, this isn't about the quality of our words, but about the living out of those words and finding hope and faith in Jesus.

Sometimes, us girls will get together and have a "flash mob" about one particular topic, but most of the time, the SDG link-up is simply a place where you can share whatever is on your heart. We greatly value authenticity and vulnerability, so please know that whether you are happy, sad, living abundantly, or feeling destitute, we welcome you and seek to encourage you. God knows, we want to walk together through all seasons of life. Sometimes, you will find, you are the encourager and sometimes you are the one who needs encouragement.
Housekeeping notes:
{1} The linky tool will be open from Monday at 7:30 PM (Central time) to Wednesday at 11:59 PM. Please make sure that you have linked up with the permalink and not just with your blog address (if you have questions about this, email me at jenfergie (at) me (dot) com). This means you need to have your blog post written on your blog before you link up.
{2} The content can really be about whatever you want, but the goal is to share about something meaningful that is happening in your life. This is designed to be a safe place where you can ask hard questions. However, sometimes we all just need a laugh, so if you have something funny, please feel free to share. I can't tell you how many times a funny post has just whisked my sadness away.
{3} I would love it if you would join with me in praying for this sisterhood -- that God would guard it fiercely, shower us with His love as we journey with Him, and open our hearts to what He would have us learn from each other. Please try to visit as many sisters as possible so that we all know each other is reading and supporting us in our walk. If you have linked up before and you see someone new to the group, please make a point of visiting them.
{4} Oh! One last thing: If you are here and you don't have a blog or do not wish to post your heart on your blog, please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section. If you would like, you can leave your email address there, too, so that we might shower you with encouragement and love that way.
Soli Deo Gloria Prayer Request Distribution List
I send out an email on Sunday, asking for everyone to send in a prayer request if they have one. I compile them all and send out one email to the whole group on Monday. If you would like to be on this distribution list, send me an email or leave a note in the comments.

You changed your site design!
ReplyDeleteI've intended to join the sisterhood but have been involved in an intensive class that has me on line a lot already. It will be over in a couple weeks. I will try later to participate.
I'm a blogging newbie. Can't figure out how to join this group or how to link up/set it up?? In one of the previous posts that I viewed there was a "linky" thing that was closed or open. Sorry to be a bother...

ReplyDeleteHey Jen, have loved this gathering place of yours and have met some lovely bloggers. I look forward to linking up with 'Soli Deo Gloria' each week. I have been inspired to create a project called "Inspire me" and would love to have you guest post about what inspires you. Check it out and let me know - click my "Inspire me' page. x
ReplyDeleteI would love to join in as my desire for every blog is to be inspiration in some way as I write about what God has done and is doing in my life.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this link up! I've really enjoyed it, and reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a blessed weekend,
Stefanie
Thank you for this opportunity to link with other Christian blogs. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting me to this gathering of ladies. Every opportunity that allows me to write, explore, and examine relationships, myself, God.....I find extremely worthwhile.

I can't quite figure out how to link up - there's no linky that I can see. But I'm hoping you'll enjoy this post: http://acts17verse28.blogspot.com/2011/07/catholic-understanding-of-eucharist-or.html. In it, Fr. Barron explains the Catholic understanding of the Eucharist.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I landed on your website but so glad I did! I hope to link up soon =)
ReplyDeleteCouldn't find the linky. Hope this works...

Does it have to be a post written in that time frame, or can it be one written earlier in the week, and then shared here? That is what I'm going to do this week...if I did wrong, let me know.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place for acceptance, love, and prayer. I am honoured to become part of this place of worship.
I'll be linking up for the first time this week. I have so looked forward to becoming part of this sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Janis
Am here to join in but do not see where to link up... Maybe the link has already been removed. Let me know...
ReplyDeleteYou can find me here: http://mylongandwindingroad.wordpress.com/
Hi, Jen! Your comments on my blog always inspire me, and I hope to link up with your group soon. I need to write more posts about what God is teaching me...not just my crazy life that's just bobbing down the river. I hope a regular link-up will be the kick in the tooshie I need. :) However...I'm terrible at linking up...when I've posted, though, I'll give it a shot and see how it goes! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm back! I'll be linking up my new blog (which is under construction - of course! :P) this week. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteJust discovered this beautiful sisterhood, and I am excited to join and explore. Blessings to you all.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that it is not about quality but about hearts.
ReplyDeleteAmen! That is so neat. It's not the eloquence (or lack thereof) of our words, but about what's in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteOh for a place to be transparent and not feel guilty.
I do not have a blog but would like to be part of this group.

ReplyDeleteI just read this all about Soli Deo Gloria, and it tugged on my heart strings a bit. I have been praying about where to connect, and I really love your heart in this, so hopefully this week will be my first :)
ReplyDeleteJen, I've made a new website. When I tried link up today it told me to contact you. My new site address is www.debbieyoungart.com/blog
ReplyDeleteThe lynky box said things I don't understand. May have to do with recognizing the new address as opposed to the old one www.faithartfarming.blogspot.com...
Thanks for you help and letting me participate.
Hi Jen, I'd love to join the small goup! I'll join by faith! I already have a small group in my real life community and I think it would be great to have one in my virtual community! Blessings! patsy
ReplyDeleteHi! My mom referred me to this site to try to get connected with some other women writers so I'm hoping I can do that :) I'm interested in joining one of the small groups and have put a link on my blog for SDG. Please let me know if I can join! thanks!

I may e-mail some questions!
Thanks!
I've seen your blog button on many sites I read regularly and tonight I clicked on it...and here I am! I graciously accept your invitation to be part of this wonderful community. The idea of small groups of 6-7 women sounds lovely as I'm pretty isolated and need periodic doses of encouragement! But first I need to gather my courage and write a post before joining a group :) I look forward to sharing my heart and love for Christ. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThis group is a wonderful idea and I esp. love the name, Soli Deo Gloria, that's been my "motto" on Facebook for years! I will try this my agenda/God's agenda idea this week and link up next week with the results!
ReplyDeleteI've just been led to your site from 'Mom Heart Online' and then thebettermom.com; i don't have a blog or otherwise but avidly do so look forward to being part of this family of faith and love in Christ~ for Christ ~ for life . 20 seconds is about right - and He does the rest. It is that step of faith where i stumble in my own weakness .... forgetting it is no longer me carrying any weight. Bless you all for walking in His strength & sharing His graces in your lives.

Thanks!

Its amazing! I like this. God bless you all.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI just looked over these comments. I left a note back in Sept. of 2011. Little did I know at that time what trials the next two years would hold for me. And to a certain extent, resolution has not come completely.
I would like to know more about joining your sisterhood and your small groups. Could you send me information?
Praying about the retreat.
Blessings,
Janis
Greetings! This sounds like a great place to connect! I don't have a blog but follow a few--Ann Voskamp, Dee Brestin, Dabney Hedegard...and am very blessed by them. Authenticity is very important to me since I was married 25 yrs to a man who tried to make me into someone else.Been divorced for 12 yrs & God specifically reminds me to walk as the authentic me He created me to be. He gives me grace &courage to do that.He uses the stuff I'd like to pretend didn't happen to connect me to other women & tell them how much God cares about them!
ReplyDeletePmantrozos@gmail.com but most of the time I'm on as Abbaschild07@bellsouth.net
Count me in? Paula
I would LOVE to join the Soli Deo Gloria Group! Do you suggest that I just post something next week? Or do I submit my name for the prayer list email etc?
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea. I am so excited to be a part of it :)
Peace in Christ,
Ceil
I just came across your blog (LOVE IT) and haven't been able to stop reading it! I just stumbled upon this post as well!
ReplyDeleteI recently stumbled off the Godly path & have found my way back to Him! I would love to join in on this, if still possible! I have a blog but it has been quite some time since I have written there & I am going to have to figure out my login info & get back to blogging! Until then, is it possible to join a group via email? Missienicole1231@aol.com
Thank you so much for all of your encouraging uplifting posts!
Love your vision of encouraging each other in words of affirmation, all for His Glory! Please include me in your list! cr8td2praise@aol.com
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Dawn
