SDG Retreat: Nov. 14-16th

Welcome, Sisters, to the 3rd Annual Soli Deo Gloria Sisterhood Retreat.  Click here to register!
Our Theme...
Guiding Verse
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: For your sake we face death all day long.  We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
No, in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Him who loved us."
Romans 8:35-37

The Details...

You may check into your lodge at 4pm on Friday and we will depart after worship Sunday morning around 11am.

Down Home Ranch is located in Elgin, which is east of Austin. If you are flying into the retreat, you would fly into the Austin airport (ABIA).

We have two lodges where we will be living over the weekend.  Each lodge has a living room and full kitchen.  The kitchens will be fully stock with breakfast foods and the amazing staff at DHR (who are able to accommodate food allergies, which you can denote on the registration form) will prepare 2 dinners and 1 lunch.  (Finalized menu coming soon)

There are 4 bedrooms in each lodge.  3 of the bedrooms in the lodge have 3 sets of bunk beds and you will need to bring your own TWIN sheets, blankets, and towels.  If you are flying in, you can let us know if you would like us to help out by providing those for you.  The fourth bedroom is available for those who  cannot sleep in a communal room and/or on bunk beds or have other special needs.  It has a king-sized bed and all linens are provided.  There are only 2 of these bedrooms and will be granted to those with needs on a first come, first served basis.

Cost is $99 per person, which includes lodging, meals, and swag.  Additional optional activities will be offered at a small cost. (More details coming soon on this)

Full/Partial scholarships are available.  The Women of St. Luke's (my home church) has graciously donated $500 toward scholarships!

Registration form can be found here. The retreat is limited to 38 people.

A word from your hostesses...

Dear SDG Conference Lovelies,

I can tell I am going to like you. I know we haven’t met yet, but trust me on this one. It’s a done deal.

If I could craft this retreat into the perfect time together, it would include learning, loving, lingering, and a surprise flash mob (too much?).

I believe through shared connections with each other, God offers glimpses of Himself. Oh, and our theme of this conference, the one which encourages us to step out and step-up and be brave (Romans 8:35-37) well, I am fairly certain this is going to shake life up for you. Just a hunch.

I look forward to meeting you in November. I will be the tall girl sporting a ridiculous smile and bombarding you with questions.

Much love,

Sweet SDG Retreaters,

Last year, we took a weekend to Be Restored.  This year, we are taking a weekend to be BUILT UP, to realize that no matter what is going on in our lives, we are MORE than CONQUERORS through Jesus.

I cannot wait to see what God has for us, what strength and wisdom He unleashes within us, and how He empowers us to do amazing things within our lives and the lives of others.

And, of course, I can't wait to have a whole lotta FUN! with my SDG Sisters.  FUN! is my 2014 word, so let's BRING IT, girls!

Love and blessings,

Some more information for those who like to be VERY informed...

Why here at Down Home Ranch?
God has lit a fire in my heart for community.  Everything about this retreat is about creating and sustaining relationships, fostering them with intention and care.

Down Home Ranch, located in Elgin, Texas, has had a relationship with my home church for years.  We support them by buying poinsettias from them every year and selling their hanging garden baskets in the spring to members of our congregation.  When I called to inquire about retreat facilities (they are open year-round, providing housing, food, and work for adults with Down Syndrome and other differently abled people), they said, "Of course you can come.  We love your church!"

It's another way to deepen our relationship with them.  Plus, it's a beautiful location, away from the city, but still close enough to the Austin airport if you're flying in. (Last year, attendees could not stop raving about the locale.)

When God started whispering to me about the details of last year's retreat, He spoke through His Word to communicate to me that our SDG retreats are about living together as a community of women.  And so, we will live together in two houses Friday evening through Sunday morning.  And we will see how God builds us up in incredible ways.  May we all walk away from this knowing that we truly are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
